Kenya Kabaddi players Samuel wafula and James Kamweti are determined to win their medal gold at next month’s Kabaddi Beach World Cup that weill be staged in Iran.
Speaking during their morning training at the Kasarani, Kamweti said that they are getting used to sand ahead of the World Cup.
Training at the Kasarani using the long jump venue, Kamweti said that they want to get used to sand they are supposed to be training on the beach but they are unable to reach to the coast for the beach they use the available resources.
“We are training here, sharpening our skills ahead of the Beach World Cup. This space is small at 8mx4m yet we are supposed to train on an 8x10m but that is what we have,” said Kamweti.
He added that as Kenya Kabaddi they are always prepared to play.
“Today, we are sharpening skills especially at the defence that has a few weaknesses but we have worked on it. And in beach Kabaddi, we normally play four players unlike in normal Kabaddi that has seven. In this case, the four players, everybody is a defender and raider,” he added.
The all round Wafula said that he can both be a defender raid among others.
“As a team, we are determined to bring gold and that is why we train here at Kasarani and because we don’t have a beach, we have to improvise the training. We want to bring gold after losing in so many events,” said Wafula.
“This time, we want to bring gold, we don’t want to bring silver. We normally lose because of technical errors that we have to work on seriously,” he said.
