Kabras beat Oilers for their maiden Sevens title at Kakamega sevens

Kabras Sugar won their maiden Kenya Sevens title following their victory against Menengai Oilers in today’s Kakamega sevens in Kakamega county.

The millers were 19-7 winners against Oilers who were named the overall series champions.

Kabras’ Jone Kubu scored first with Barry Robinson adding the extras for 7-0 lead for the winners before Patrick Lumumba scored the second try that Kubu’s missed the conversion for a 12-0 lead into the break.

After water break, Geoffrey Ominde converted Bildad Ogeta’s try for Oilers in a 12-07 lead for Kabras with Leos John Okoth on sin bin, Brian Tanga touched down for the third try that Kubu successfully converted for a 19-07 final score.

The series was historical as no team managed to win the title twice where KCB won the opening round at the Kabeberi in Nairobi, followed by Strathmore Leos, who won the Christie Sevens.

Mwamba won Driftwood in Mombasa and Homeboyz settled for Dala Sevens in Kisumu. Oilers bagged the Prinsloo Sevens.
