Kadenge, Kamau, Njoroge and Nyaruai wins as Africa Chess continues

Kenya Chess players bagged four wins in the ongoing Africa Individual Chess Championships in Lilongwe, Malawi with top four players in the open section (men) qualifying for the 2021 World Chess Cup in Sochi, Russia

With ten players representing the country, there were two wins, walkover and a draw in the opening round where Brian Kadenge defeated hosts player Chipanga Chiletso.

It was a great victory for Kadenge in the second round after losing the opener to Fide Master (FM) Abdulraheem Abdulrahman from Nigeria.

Another win for kenya team came from Jackson Kamau who beat Senegalese Robert Diatta after losing the opener to Grand Master (GM) Hesham Abdelrahman of Egypt.

Martin Njoroge registered Kenya’s third win with victory over John Awesome of Nigeria.

Joyce Nyaruai, the Woman Candidate Master (WCM) was on top of her opponent Tadeyo Charity of Malawi.

Kenyan Candidate Master (CM) Benjamin Magana of KCB  lost to the lower rated Thomas Saah from Liberia as Joseph Methu fell to Ugandan Fide Master (FM) Patrick Kawuma.
