Kampala university (KU) will be facing off with Uganda Christian University (UCU) in the football finals set for tomorrow at the ongoing Eastern Africa University Games in Ndejje, Uganda.
In a Uganda derby, the two teams will be chasing the women football title after dominating in both semifinals and group stages at the games that kicked off Saturday and they will culminate tomorrow.
At the semifinals, UCU won 4-1 against Kyambogo in the opening semifinal before Kampala beat Kenyan side Kenyatta University 3-0 today played.
Kampala remained unbeaten in the pool, accumulating maximum 9 points ahead of Kyambogo, UOE with all four points and Busitema University tailing without a point.
In pool A, Kenyatta University finished second after losing their last match to UCU to make it to the semifinals where they lost to Kampala on Tuesday while Bishop Stuart University, despite beating Makerere University 2-1, failed to progress while Kenyatta recovered to beat Bishop Stuart University 3-0.
With the last victory, UCU led pool Aon 9 points as KU had 4 followed by Makerere with better goal difference and BSU tailed.
Kenyan side University of Eldoret (UOE), who missed to progress from pool B, head coach Josphat Pilishi said his focus now is to fight for Kenya University Sports Federation (KUSF) title they lost last year to Kenyatta University.
“This was the toughest match we have encountered so far in both competition including KUSF Nationals, sadly we lost to a very tough and experienced team that plays in the FUFA top tier Kampala University and Kyambogo University went through to the semifinals with a better goal difference,” said Pilishi.
