Kamworor, Cherotich claim Police cross country titles

Two time New York City Marathon champion Geoffrey Kamworor and Jackline Cherotich won the National Police Serice Cross country titles ran today at Ngong Racecourse.

The three time world half marathon champion edged his opponents to win his 7th national police serice cross country title 30:04.32 ahead of Josphat Boit who was second in 30:14.94 as Hosea Kimosop from General Service Unit clocked 30:25.61 for third.

Emmanuel Bett (30:45.50) was 4th ahead of three time Toronto marathon champion Philemon Rono who came in 5th timing 30:50.40.

The world half marathon record holder also won the world cross country titles in 2015 and 2017.

In women, Jackline Cherotich beat defending champion Margaret Chelimo and former winner Stacy Ndiwa for the title.

She won the title timing 40:17.95 World 5,000m silver medallist Chelimo to second in 40:25.18 and Ndiwa’s 40:37.51 for top three positions.

Lilian Chebii was 4th in 40:45.31 followed Caroline Nyagah (41:05.80) and returning Mercy Cherono in 5th position timing 41:15.97.
