World half marathon record holder Kibiwott Kandie and national cross country champion Sheila Chelangat eased past their competitors to win their respective races at the Athletics Kenya national track and field meeting at the Nyayo National stadium.
Kandie, who finished second at the national cross country championshups behid Rodgers Kwemoi won the 10,000m title timing 28:28.0 ahead of former world Commonwealth Games Youth champion as Gilbert Kimunyan (28:37.7) and Peter Mwaniki (28:39.7) in second and third positions respectively.
The win is part of his journey for Africa Cross Country Championships to be held in Lome, Togo in March 6, which were postponed due to Covid-19.
Two time national cross country champion Chelangat won the women’s 5,000m in 15:42.2 beating Jackline Cherotich (15:49.6) and Mary Nyaruai (15:50.2).
