Linda Kangogo, carded a round of 42 points on Saturday to emerge the overall winner of the third leg of the Konza InvesTeeing Golf Series which was held at Eldoret Club.
Playing off handicap 27, Linda posted 23 points in the first nine and combined with 19 points in the second to floor a field of over 70 players who took part in the event.
Linda’s score was one point ahead of her nearest challenger, Stephen Isoe, at handicap 12, who emerged the runners-up with 41 points ahead of handicap 16 Stephen Karobio who finished as third overall with 40 points. Handicap 13, Evance Maneno and Handicap 15, Dr. John Kibosia were ranked fourth and fifth overall with a similar score.
In the ladies’ category, Linda Kangogo was crowned the winner after she carded a round of 23 points; one ahead of handicap 27 Diana Chemweno who took the runner-up spot with 22 points.
Among the guests, Konza Technopolis Development Authority’s (KoTDA) Hillary Kip carded a round of 28 points to emerge the best staff player at the event.
In the nines, Diana Chemweno and Nathan Tororei bagged the top honours in the first nine and second nine respectively with 22 points and 25 points respectively.
In the longest drive contest, Sandeep Grewal was crowned the winner among the men while Dr. Florence Murgor claimed the honours in the women’s category.
6 players won the two clubs record. The players include handicap 10, Michael Rotich, handicap 12, Stephen Isoe, handicap 13, Morgan Chirchir, handicap 10 Howard Sinyeri, handicap 27 Linda Kangogo and handicap 10 Nathan Tororei. Each of the players won 8 golf balls.
The Eldoret Club event is Konza Technopolis Development Authority’s (KoTDA) 7th golf event and the third in the Konza InvesTeeing Golf Series calendar.
Speaking during the awards ceremony, KoTDA CEO. Eng. John Tanui, said the Series has created an engagement and interaction platform for the Authority with local investors, as KoTDA accelerates the development and impact of Konza Technopolis.
Eng. Tanui said, “The tournament that has been held here today is part of Konza Technopolis Development Authority’s investor outreach strategy which is anchored in the Authority’s ambition to be a worthy investment destination. We want local investors to be part of the future that we are creating through Konza Technopolis.”
“The Konza InvesTeeing Golf Series is really an effort in the direction of getting more local investors involved in the development of this flagship project which is part of Kenya’s development blueprint, The Kenya Vision 2030.” The KoTDA CEO added.
While urging potential investors to seek investment opportunities at Konza Technopolis, Eng. Tanui called on the members of Eldoret Club to take keen interest in emerging technology enterprises and innovation hubs such as Eldohub, which are hinged on creating a knowledge-based economy.
“We must start celebrating the small companies that are coming up. It is possible for Kenya to be the host of the companies of the future. This will be made possible if the local business community can engage upcoming ventures that are being run by our young people.”
