Kenneth Bollo led his Pro-Am team to victory at the Pro-Am event of the Thika Greens Golf Resort, the fourth leg of the Safari Tour golf tournament that was held today.
The Royal Nairobi Golf Club’s Professional Golfer Bollo led a team who fended off a stiff challenge that was mounted by the team led by Thika Golf Club’s pro golfer, Simon Ngige, that finished second.Ngige carded a total score of 37 to combine with the best amateur score for his team of 47 for a total of 84.
The team of Muthaiga Golf Club’s Pro, Jeff Kubwa finished third after Jeff carded a total score of 32 to combine with the best amateur score for his team of 49 for a total of 81 points.
In the subsidiary members event,handicap 26 Vet Lab’s, Grace Wanjohi, emerged overall winner with 37 points while Kenya Air force Golf Club’s Isaiah Nderitu, at handicap 09, emerged overall runner-up with 37 points. Nakuru Golf Club’s Mose Sammy (handicap 19)and Vet Lab’s Steve D’Souza (handicap 06) finished third and fourth overall at36 points apiece.
The PRO-AM took place ahead of the main tournament proper of the fourth leg of the Tour which tees off tomorrow at the same venue, bringing together over 35 golf professionals from Kenya and East Africa who will be playing for a stake of the KES. 1 Million total prize kitty. The PRO-AM follows a golf clinic, which was held at the same venue yesterday, that saw local pros share golf skills with junior golfers as part of the Safari Tour’s overall objectives.
Local pros including Greg Snow, who has taken home the top prize in consecutive Safari Tour events at Vet Lab and Limuru; Dismas Indiza, winner of the 2018 Uganda Open; Tony Omuli, David Opati and Jacob Okello are among the local PROs who will take part in Round One ofthe tour tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Nuru Mollel of Tanzania and Philip Kasozi of Uganda, who played in the second and third legs, will be joining Kenyan pros at the main tournament tomorrow.
