Following his impressive win at Nyanza Golf Open, popularly ‘Hippo Pot’ at par 70 Nyanza golf Club in Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC), Royal Club’s Dennis Saikwa has shift his focus to claim Uhuru Shield at Royal Club, Nairobi.

Saikwa completed two rounds of with a total of eight over par 148 Gross to win his first meeting in KAGC in the 18 meetings across the country.

He played seven over par 77 Gross on the opening day and one under 71 on Sunday to claim the title.
“The course was tough and difficult to score but I thank God I emerged the winner. Right now my focus is to win Uhuru Shield ahead of Nyali Open,” said Saikwa.
At Uhuru Shield, Saikwa will have to deal with defending champion John Karichu from Limuru Country club.
Enjoying the top of the table, Vet Lab’s Edwin Mudanyi finished second with thirteen over 153. Mudanyi played six over on Saturday and closed with seven over 77 before Royal Club’s Kenneth Bollo rounded the podium with seventeen over 157 (77, 80).
Vet Lab’s Mike Kisia beat his club mate Robinson Owiti on count back to take 4th and 5th positions with 158 (76, 82) and 158 (75, 83) in that order.
After finishing second, Mudanyi continues to enjoy the KAGC standing with 468.5 points ahead of Kisia (380) and Karichu third with 367.5 points. Following Nyanza win, Saikwa moves to 4th position with 331.1 points ahead of Kenya Captain Alfred Nandwa from Royal Club to 5th position with 289.1 points.
