Kenya, Cameroon, Egypt and Rwanda to face off at CAVB Africa Women’s volleyball semifinals

Malkia Strikers’ the Kenya’s national women volleyball team came from a set down to to beat stubborn Algeria to qualify into the semifinals of the ongoing Women’s Africa Nations Volleyball Championships at the Kasarani Indoor Arena today evening.

The Geoffrey Omondi coached side lost the opening set at 20-25 but recovered well well to win the remaining three sets at 25-07, 25-15 and 25-18 for 3-1.

Following the victory, Kenya will now take on former champions Cameroon in the semifinals who beat Uganda 3-0 in 25-18, 25-20, 25-18.

This will be the return former finals when Cameroon beat Kenya to lift the title.

In another semifinal, multiple champions Egypt defeated Tunisia 3-1 in 25-20, 25-14 and 25-09 to book Rwanda in the semi-finals after edging out 3-1 (25-17, 24-26, 25-19 and 25-18).

Rwanda punched their ticket to the last four with a 3-1 set win (25- 17, 24- 26, 25- 19, 25- 18) over Ghana

Quarterfinal results

  1. Rwanda 3-1 Ghana 25- 17, 24- 26, 25- 19, 25- 18
  2. Egypt 3-0 Tunisia 25-20, 25-14, 25-09
  3. Cameroon 3-0 Uganda 25-18, 25-20, 25-18
  4. Kenya 3-1 Algeria 21-25, 25-07, 25-15, 25-18 for 3-1.
