Kenya cross country team named ahead of Africa University games

Over 400 athletes are expected to compete in this year’s Africa Universities cross country championships set for Marrakech, Morocco on 7th March 2020.

Today, Kenyan team was named with six men and women to chase the title at the same venue the championships were held last year.

The team include six men and six women for the title chase as Festus Kipkurui will lead men’s team that consists of Desmond Kiokoech of Laikipia, Jeremiah Ewoi of Kabianga University, Emmanuel Ngeno and Dennis Kibet of Kenyatta University.

 The women’s team has Diana Wanza (Kenyatta University), , Viola Yator (Laikipia University), Elizabeth Macharia (Kenyatta University), Mavesin Simiyu, Gladys Kibii and Sharon Kemboi all from the University of Eldoret).

 The students will be competing in 15 games that include Athletics, Chess, Swimming, Taekwondo, 3×3 Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Tennis, Woodball, Billiard and Snooker, Karate, Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Handball, Rugby 7’s, Netball.

Three extra games (Rollball, Snooker and Woodball) shall be played for demonstration purposes.
