Last minute try by Zimbabweans earned a bronze medal at the concluded Rugby Africa Men’s 7s tournament played at the Laourdonnais sports club in Mauritius.
With Kenya leading 19-07, it was clear that Louis Kisia side was going to win bronze but sluggish restarts cost the team as Zimbabwe Cheetahs managed to score two last two converted tries to seal the title at 21-19 at the final whistle.
At the semifinals, Kenya lost to Madagascar 14-10 while South Africa beat Zimbabwe.
In other quarterfinals, South Africa beat Uganda Uganda 26-0, Zimbabwe were 36-0 winners over Ghana as Zambia lost 12-31 to Madagascar and Kenya beating Nigeria 43-12.
In the last pool A match, Kenya defeated rivals Uganda to maintain their dominance with a 12-05 victory after thrashing Ghana 36-0 in the second match and a 33-0 win over Ivory Coast in the opening fixture for the Louis Kisia coached side.
