Kenya Prison, KPC shine in Laikipia KVF league

Former Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Prison Kenya won their two matches in the 6th leg of KVF league in Laikipia County ahead of tomorrow’s Laikipia County volleyball tournament.

It was a sweet revenge for Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) who beat their Prison Kenya in women category.

The 2018 champions men’s Prison Kenya defeated Kenya Army in straight sets of 23-25, 17-25 and 19-25 before beating Administration Police (A.P) 1-3 in one of the longest encounter.

  AP won the longest opening set 36-34 before the warders won the second, third and 4th sets in 21-25, 18-25 and 14-25 to remain in play-off contention.

Kenya Army lost all their two matches, with the opener to Prison Kenya and second to Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in 1-3 (33-31, 8-25, 17-25 and 17-25). KPA also beat Prison Mombasa in straight sets of 18-25, 22-25 and 22-25.

Reigning champions General Service Unit (GSU) beat their arch rivals Kenya Defence Forces 3-0 (25-18, 25-16 and 25-23).

Equity Bank registered mixed results, starting with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-16 and 25-22) win to Prison Nairobi before losing by similar margin to KDF in 19-25, 26-26 and 19-25.

In women encounter, Prison Kenya and KPC highlighted the day with former champions winning the tie in a five-setter thriller, in one of the longest serving match.

KPC won the opener 21-25 but warders replied the second in 27-25 with KPC taking third set in 16-25. In an exchanging formula, Prison own the 4th set in 26-24 but resilient KPC won the last set 17-19.

Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) thrashed KDF in straight sets of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-10 while Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) were 3-1 (23-15, 25-12, 25-23 and 25-13) winners against Bungoma County.
