Kenya’s Juster Kwamesa and Daniel Kiptum will be the key highlight when inaugural Africa Deaf Athletics Championships kicks off today at Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani in Nairobi.
The duo have been dominating Deaf road races in the country as well as the national championships where top runners were selected to fly the Kenyan flag on home soil.
Kenya is among the ten countries that will be chasing the title in the Deaf Athletics Association of Kenya in partnership with Kenya Sports Federation of the Deaf.
Those confirmed countries are usual rivals Ethiopia, Mauritania, Algeria, Uganda, Zanzibar, Mozambique and Botswana have jetted in for the event, with those from Ghana, Libya and Nigeria.
Today, men’s and women’s 10,000m finals will be on card as well as 1,500m finals.
