Kakamega Sports Club will be hosting Kenya Seed golf tournament series this Saturday.
Club vice-captain Pepe Sembi, who will lead other golfers, said the club is ready to host one of the biggest tournament since his tenure at the club as the vice-captain ahead of next weekend’s Kenya Amateur Golf Championships series at the same club.
Pepe said they are expecting golfers from Kitale, Eldoret, Nandi and Nyanza to battle for honours as the year starts, before heading to Kitale, Kericho and other parts of the country.
“As a club, we are prepared to host such a big number of golfers on this course. It has been long since we had such a big tournament and we hope that the golfers will enjoy our greens,” said Pepe.
Playing handicap 23, Pepe will be joined by immediate captain Jack Songwa, former captain Hieronim Ikhokoro as well as K. Akhoko, J. Akhonya, Brikskern Amusala among others.
“Visitors will find it hard on some hidden holes on the course and that will provide a challenge for them. We want to give the best for the tournament,” said Pepe.
Kenya seed company will be represented by former Kitale captain Stephen Malakwen, current Kitale captain Patrick Kae, Nandi Bears captain Simion Chepkwony who will be accompanying the troop to the western Kenya tournament.
“Apart from the hosting captain, we will be hosting various captains from the neighbouring clubs to make the tournament lively and competitive. The large the group, the better results we get,” added Pepe.
Winners are expected to carry home seeds in readiness for the planting season.
