Kenya Simbas, the national rugby 15s team defeated the viciting United Arab Emirates (UAE) in a test match played today at the RFUEA Grounds, Nairobi.
The Jerome Paarwater coached side waited until second half to win 54-24 in a come back as part of their training ahead of international fixtures that includes Africa Rugby to qualify for the World Rugby.
UAE touched down with converted tries to 0-14 lead into water break on home turf before Paarwater making changes in the second half then Erick Cantona converted Bethel Anami try to half the score but restored the lead with a converted try for 7-21 while Cantona converted his try for 14-21.
As they settled, UAE managed to squeeze in a penalty to make it 14-24 in favour of the visitors but Elkans Musonye touched down with Timothy Omela adding extras for 21-24 then Ibrahim Ayoo ran past the whitewash, with a missed conversion for 26-24 as the hosts took the first lead.
A converted penalty try handed Kenya 33-24 with Griffin Chao’s try and Omela’s conversion added advantage on Kenya to 40-24 before Andy Cole Omolo’s try was again converted for 47-24 Bryson Adaka’s try converted with Omela sealed a 54-24 victory for the home team.
