Kenya has been drawn with Tanzania in the ongoing Council for East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) under 17 championships in Burundi.
The under 17 side will play Tanzania on Wednesday in the first semi final before Somalia take on Uganda in the second semifinal match.
Kenya finished second in pool B while Tanzania were runner up to Somalia while Uganda was second in pool A behind Tanzania.
Defending champions Uganda will play unrated Somali side who won against Kenya 1-0 in their final Pool A game to top the charts with seven points, three better than favored Kenya who ended up second with four points ahead of host Burundi on goal difference. Ethiopia finished last with a point.
Somalia’s race to the top was aided by Ethiopia’s fielding of three over age players which led to the reversal of a 3-1 opening loss in their favor. They followed up on the awarded win with a barren draw against Burundi.
The semis will be played concurrently on Wednesday with Somalia hosting Uganda at Gitega as Tanzania invites Kenya at Muyinga. Both ties kick off at 3pm. The winning teams will square it out in the final on Sunday in Ngozi. Those that fall short at the semis will meet in the loser’s final at the same borough the day before.
Semis lineup – Wed 25 April 2018 – all from 3pm
Somalia (A1)vs Uganda (B2)– Gitega Stadium
