Kenyan girls were crowned the champions of the Inaugural Copa Coca Cola under 16 Africa Cup of Nations that ended today at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru.
Mercy Njeri scored the lonely goal as Kenyan representatives Moi Girls Nangili edged out Zimbabwe in the second match to claim the title.
The tournament attracted only two girls’ teams, Kenya and Zimbabwe, with Nangili flying Kenyan flag after winning the national Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA)held at Hill School Eldoret in August.
The striker’s 8th minute goal sealed the victory for the hosts with a well-struck free-kick that saw Tanaka Mbesere in the Zimbabwe goal sent thew rong way.
