Kenya’s 4x400m mixed team win bronze as 4x400m team qualify to Tokyo

Kenya ended the World Athletics Relay Championships with a bronze medal in Guangzhou, China.

The quartet of Mercy Oketch, David Sanayek, Mercy Chebet and Brian Tinega won the 4x400m mixed relay won bronze medal in the two day championships in 3:13.10 to rekindle the 2019 edition when Kenya won a medal at the global relay championships.

Americans won the title with a championships record of 3:09.54 with Australia settling for silver at 3:12.20.

In the 4x100m men, Commonwealth Games 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala, Borniface Mweresa, Meshack Babu and Steve Odhiambo, finished second in heat 2 behind Belgium to automatically book the slot for the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

They crossed the finish line in 38.51 seconds behind Belgium who won in 38.49.
