Tunisia’s Wahbi Khazri and Mathew Leckie scored for Tunisia and Australia respectively in the pool D matches that concluded this evening at the Fifa World Cup in Doha, Qatar.
The French-born Khazri scored the only goal when Tunisia claimed defeated defending champions France in their last pool match at the Education City stadium.
Despite winning 1-0, Tunisia failed to progress to the next round after Leckie’s goal sealed the second position for Australia to seal the last 16.
France coach Didier Deschamps topped the pool with 6 points and Khazri punished them in the 58th minute at Education City Stadium.
At Ali Janoub stadium, Leckie was on target as the Australia’s 1-0 victory against Denmark earned them a slot in the best of 16 for the second time in their history.
