Kibet, Odira, Ngeno, Kipruto, Chebet, langat, Ejore, Ewoi, Gitonga and Kemboi set for Nanjing World Indoor

Former world under 20 1,500m 800m bronze medalist Noah Kibet and Africa 800m silver medalist Lilian Odira were named by Athletics Kenya, to represent the country at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Nanjing, China.

Kibet, the silver medalist at the 2022 World Indoor championships in 800m in Belgrade, Serbia, will be returning to the championships next week to defend or improve on his medal.

Now based in the USA, Kibet will be flying the Kenyan flag alongside Africa 800m champion Alex Ng’eno Kipng’etich, also the 2018 World Under 20 800m champion in Tampere, Finland and Collins Kipruto who will be making his second appearance at the championships.

In women 800m, Odira will be accompanied by Olympian Vivian Chebet in the 800m.

American-based Festus Lagat will be running in the 1,500m just as Susan Ejore and Dorcas Ewoi.

In the 3,000m, Purity Gitonga, the Mountain and Trail runner will fly the national flag in the women’s 3000m.

Just like Gitonga, African Games 5000m bronze medalist Cornelius Kemboi will be Kenya’s sole representative in the men’s 3000m.
