Alfred Kibet Rono has been elected as the Kenya University Sports Federation (KUSF) president following the elections held yesterday in Nakuru.
The elected team will serve the federation for the next four years.
Coming from the University of Eldoret (UoE), Rono, collected 15 votes against Dr. Timothy Ramara from Meru who had 10 votes with Bonface Chavareji Salamo (USIU) with 8 and Maurice Ochieng Ontango from Technical University of Kenya (TUK) managed 7 votes.
Rono, who has been serving as the federation’s treasurer will be deputized by Francis Njeru Karugu (Mulitmedia University), who beat former secretary General Joseph Sandagi Kidake to second with 24 and 16 votes each respectively.
Maseno’s Joan Auma Adalo will serve as the Secretary General with 15 votes after floating TUM’s Anthony Mwanzia (13), Dr Daniel Njenga of Kenyatta University (7) and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) Geoffrey Barasa Wamalwa Boice with 5.
With only two contestants for the in the deputy Secretary General, Hellen Ng’ethe from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) won the position with 36 votes against Joseph Andiku from Machakos coming second on 4.
Raphael Munyao Kithuka, who has been serving as the deputy treasurer has been elected as the treasurer unopposed following the withdrawal of Judith Kinoti all coming from the University of Nairobi. Kithuka will be deputized by Laikipia’s MacDonald Juma who was unopposed to.
Kenya Methodist University’s Hillary Mukasa garnered 30 votes to get into the office of Public relations officer (PRO) after edging out Ali Mbara from Moi University who managed 10 votes.
