Former world half marathon record holder Kibiwott kandie won the Valencia half marathon title held today in Spain.
The Commonwealth Games 10,000m bronze medalist won the race in 2020 with a world record of 57:32 that was later lowered by Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo won today’s race in 58:11 followed by Ethiopian Jejelcha Yomif (58:32) and Kenyan Daniel Kibet Mateiko completing the podium in 58:40.
In women, top Kenyan runner was Margaret Chelimo who finished a distance 4th timing 66:50 in a race won by Germany international Konstanze Klosterhalfen in 65:41 followed by Ethiopians Tsigie Gebreselama (65:46) and Hawi Feysa Gejia (66:00).
Irene Kimais (1:07:12), Purity Komen (1:07:29), Vicoty Chepngeno (1:07:55) and Dorcas Kimeli (1:08:17) were sixth, seventh, ninth and 10th.
