Kibugu, the best Kenyan as Gavins, Veerman take magical Kenya round one lead at Muthaiga

Njoroge Kibugu was the best Kenyan in round one at the Magical Kenya Open Golf Championships that teed off today at the par 71 Muthaiga Golf club.

As England’s Daniel Gavins took round one lead with seven under par 64 followed  by American Johannes Veerman with six under par 65 and Shubhankar completed the podium tied on -6.

The amateur golfer fired one under par 70 to lead the Kenyans at the highly contested golf championships with professional golfer Greg Snow coming in second position with level par 71.

Kenyan amateur champion Adel Balala managed 1 over par 72. He will need to shoot an under-par today to stay on course for the cut. Another junior player Taimur Malik and Railways’ Samuel Nhoroge wrapped up round one with a +3.

Top Kenyans Daniel Nduva, Simon Ngige, and Simon Ngige will need a miracle in today’s Round Two to make the cut. Nduva shot a disappointing +7, Ngige +8, and Wakhu +8.
