Kimeli, Jepkemei on mission to claim University of Eldoret cross country title

Fresh from representing the country at the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar, Africa junior cross country champion Nicholas Kimeli Kipkorir will be chasing his maiden title of the University of Eldoret (UoE) cross country set for Saturday 26th October at the university’s pavilion.

Kimeli, who competed alongside Jacob Krop in the 5,000m where Ethiopia’s Muktar Edris won the title.

The Iten based runner has dominated local races, starting from Ndalat Gaa, Maria Soti and Ziwa farmers 10km road race.

“I will be chasing the senior title on Saturday hoping to run well,” said Kimeli.

He will be chasing the title against defending champion Josephat Kipchirchir among other elite and untested runners.

In women’s race, newly crowned Isaiah Kiplagat Memorial Ndalat Gaa cross country winner Daisy Jepkemei will be chasing the title after finishing second last year to her elder sister Norah Jeruto.

“UoE cross country is like my home and I want to run a better race than last year. I want the title that my sister won,” said Jepkemei.
