Reigning Commonwealth Games 800m champion Wycliffe Kinyamal and Commonwealth Games 1,500m silver medalist Timothy Cheruiyot won in their respective races at the Lausanne, the eighth leg of Diamond League series in Switzerland yesterday.
Kinyamal, who was the surprise winner at the 2018 Commonwealth games led a podium finish for Kenyan runners where seasonal runner Ferguson Rotich and Emmanuel Korir for an all Kenyan podium sweep.
The 2016 East Africa Junior 800m champion won the two lap race in 1:43.78 ahead of Rotich who managed second position timing 1:43.93 as Korir, the Africa 800m champion completed the podium in 1:44.01.
The all second placed Cheruiyot won the 1,500m title ahead of Netherland’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Ehtiopia’s Ayanley Souleiman.
Cheruiyot ran his world lead as well as meeting record when he clocked 3:28.77 followed by Jakob timing 3:30.16 and Souleiman’s 3:30.79.
