Reigning World Mountain running champion Patrick Kipngeno and double world mountain running champion Joyce Njeru will lead nine athletes at this year’s Mountain and Trail Running championships that will be staged at the Innsbruck-Stubai, Austria.
The championships set for next week, starting from June 6th to 10th will see Kenya present a nine member team that was named on Friday by Athletics Kenya where six men and three women will compete for the country.
Last year, the federation entered three athletes in the championship and the athletes will compete in 85km long trail, 44km short trail, up and down vertical run, and 13.7 km mountain classic events.
Other athletes are Ezekiel Cheruiyot Kirui will compete in the 85km long trail while Geoffrey Ndung’u will take part in the 45 km short trail. Hillary Kiptum, Patrick Kipng’eno, Josephat Kiprotich, Joyce Njeru, Valentine Ruto, Philemon Kiriago, and Philaries Kisang will double in an up-and-down vertical run and mountain classic.
