Reigning world 10,000m bronze medalist Rhonex Kipruto and former Africa 3,000m steeplechase champion Norah Jeruto will be yearning for Valencia Ibercaja 10km on Sunday morning.
Kipruto, the reigning world Under-20 10,000m will take on European half marathon record-holder Julien Wanders from Switzerland (27:25), Ethiopia’s Chala Regasa who is the reigning champion Ethiopia (27:23), Brits Callum Hawkins (28:55) Uganda’s Stephen Kissa (27:13) and Ben Connor (28:56) are also confirmed.
In women, Kenya’s Sheila Chepkirui (29:57) will be battling it out against her compatriot Norah Jeruto (30:07) and Israel’s European 10,000m champion Lonah Chemtai Salpeter (30:05).
Jeruto who is the 2011 World Youth champion in 2,000m steeplechase said that she will targeting to run her personal best in the race as she sets her eyes in the Olympics Games in August.
Last year Ethiopia’s Keteam Regasa bagged victory in 27:23 ahead of Uganda’s Stephen Kissa who clocked 27:24 while Vedic Kipkoech from Kenya was third in 27:26.
In the women category, Gemechu Beyan won the race in 30:15 beating Kenyans Gloria Kite (30:26) and Evaline Chirchir (30:43) who were in second and third positions respectively
