Kipruto, Kwemoi, Kipkirui to chase elusive 53 year old 10,000m gold for Kenya

World under 20 10,000m champion Rhonex Kipruto Commonwealth Games 10,000m bronze medalist Rodgers Kwemoi and Weldon Langat Kipkirui will be chasing 10,000m title at the ongoing Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

As the first final race on the opening day of track and field, the Kenyan trio will be chasing the title that was last won by the late Naftali Temo way back in 1968.

However, they will be chasing the title alongside world record holder Joshua Cheptegei from Uganda and in absence of defending champion Mo Farah from Great Britain, a new champion will be made.

Kipruto who replaced injured Geoffrey Kamworor, Kwemoi and Kipkirui will also be facing another Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo will be in action at 2.30pm EAT.
