Kipruto ‘may replace’ injured Kamworor at Olympic Games

Former world 10,000m under 20 champion Rhonex Kipruto has been suggested to replace injured Geoffrey Kamworor ahead of Olympic Games that kicked off today in Tokyo, Japan.

Two time New York City marathon champion, Kamworor announced that he will not be competing at the games after picking an injury and Athletics Kenya according to Daily Nation may appoint Kipruto to Marshall forces in 10,000m medals alongside commonwealth Games 10,000m bronze medalist Rodgers Kwemoi and Weldon Kirui.

This happens as the track and field athletes left the country today ahead of the games where the national champion Kamworor.

Kamworor, who was involved in a road accident early last year in Eldoret before making a full recovery to win the Kenyan trials for the Tokyo Games, is said to have aggravated the ankle injury he suffered in the crash.
