Kiptoo second as Adugna and Tefera win Rome marathon

Making her debut in marathon, Kenyan Gladys jeruto Kiptoo finished second at the Rone marathon held today in Italy as Sechale Dalasa Adugna and Fikire Bekele Tefere recorded wins.

Kiptoo was second behind champion Adugna while Bekele won the men’s title.

Adugna won the title in 2:26.08 with Kiptoo coming second in 2:28.44 and Ethiopia’s Tadelech Bekele Nedi closed the podium in 2:31.00.

In men, Tefera won in 2:06: 48 breaking the course record set by Kenyan Benjamin Kiptoo record of 2:07: 17 set in 2009.

Another Ethiopian Tadesse Mamo Temechachu was second in 2:07: 04 and Moroccan Othmane El Goumri was third timing 2:07:16.
