Despite world 800m record holder and defending champion David Rudisha, all three Kenyans qualified to compete in the semi finals at the ongoing IAAF world championships in London.
The 2015 World Youth 800m champion Kipyegon Bett led the rest of Kenyans Ferguson Cheruiyot Rotich and Emmanuel Kipkurui Korir all won in their various heats to qualify for semi final.
Bett made his presence felt when he won in heat won 1:45.76 leading Andreas Kramer from Sweden who clocked 1:45.98 for second place and Drew Windle of United States of America who finished third timing 1:46.08.
Diamond League’s winner Rotich won in the third heat clocking 1:45.77 followed by Isaiah Harris of USA in 1:45.82 and home boy Elliot Gills in 1:45.86.
Korir was the last man standing on the lane as he won the 4th heat in 1:47.08 ahead of Michal Rozmys (1:47.09) and Thiago Andre (1:47.22) from Poland and Brazil respectively.
