Reigning Olympic Games 1,500m champion Faith Chepngetich will renew her rivalry with Sifan Hassan at the Florence Diamond League on Thursday.
Kipyegon who won the Olympic title in 2016 at the Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and world silver medallist started the series in Doha winning in 1:58.26 in the 800m.
The Ethiopian-born Hassan, who arrived in the Netherlands as a 15-year-old in 2008, claimed world titles in Doha in 2019 in both the 1500m and 10,000m.
Olympic and world 3,000m steeplechase champion Conseslas Kipruto returns into action after a year out of competition when he tested positive for coronavirus.
Kipruto will be up against fellow Kenyan Wilberforce Chemiat Kones.
Robert Kiprop Koech will be the only Kenyan in the 5,000m race.
