Triple Olympic Games champion Faith Kipyegon and Commonwealth games 100m champion Ferdinand Omurwa Omanyala Seventeen Kenyans will lead 17 Kenyans at the Shanghai Diamond League this Saturday in China.
Kipyegon, who has dominated in many races across the world will be competing in the 5,000m away from her usual 1,500m in the opening leg of the Diamond League.
Kipyegon will be against compatriot Caroline Nyaga in the race alongside other top athletes from acros the world.
Omanyala will be the only Kenyan in the 100m as he seeks to win his maiden Diamond league title.
The Africa’s fastest man, Omanyala has had a good run in recent days, deeping in sub 10 in three events on the African soil.
He started with the Cape Miller Continental Tour in Stellenbosch, where he eased to victory in 10.19 seconds then Addis Ababa Grand Prix, storming to a season-best 9.98 seconds, followed by electrifying victory at the Kip Keino Classic with 9.96 seconds before Botswana Golden Grand Prix, where he finished third in 9.95 seconds.
