Olympic 1,500m champion Faith Kipyegon won in her first Diamond League title in Monaco after winning the 1,000m title.
The world 1,500m silver medalist clocked 2:29.15 as the only Kenya runner in the category.
But Ugandan Joshua Cheptegein broke the world record in 5,000m lowering Kenenisa Bekele’s previous time of 12:37.35.
The World 10,000m champion romped into victory in a record time of 12:35.36 beating Kenyan runners led by Africa junior cross country champion Nicholas Kimeli and Africa Junior 5,000m silver medalist Jacob Krop to second and third respectively.
Kimeli produced a personal best of 12:51.78 for second place with Krop coming in third in a season best of 13:11.32.
