Simon Kiprop Koech and Amos Serem won in their respective heats to qualify for the 3,000m steeplechase finals at the ongoing world under 20 championships at the Kasarani stadium.
The duo have vowed to win medals for the country during the final that will be held on Sunday at the same venue.

Koech won the first heat that was too slow in heat in 8:52.43 ahead Samuel Firewu came in second timing 8:52.87 and Eritrea’s Simon Mebrahtu coming third by clocking 8:54.08.
Serem, who won the second heat was committed to bring gold for Kenya and should expect a 1-2 finish.
“Koech won in his heat and I also won meaning we have the power to finish in position 1 and 2,” said Serem who clocked 8:29.92 in the fastest heat leading Ethiopia’s Tadese Takele (8:30.47) and Ugandan Leonard Chemutai (8:42.71).
