John Korir and Delvine meringor were crowned the champions of 2022 Los Angeles marathon ran today in the USA.
Korir, who won the title last year, defended his title winning men’s race in 2:09.08, lowering his time by improving from 2:12.48 by beating compatriot Edwin Kimutai who was second in 2:10.44 in a repeat of 2021 edition as Ethiopian Bekele Berga completed the podium in 2:15.11.
Korir has kept the name of his family, following in the footsteps of his elder brother Wesley Korir who won a double at the race.
Making her international marathon debut, Meringor won the women marathon in 2:25:04, ahead of compatriot Antonina Kwambai in 2:30:13 as Ethiopian Biruktayit Eshetu Degefa took third with a time of 2:31:29.
