Making her debut in indoor championships, upstart athlete Naomi Korir will be hoping for better time when she lines up at the Lievin Indoor Meeting in France today.

Speaking after her speed work at the Kipchoge Keino stadium in Eldoret, Korir said she will be using the indoor as part of preparations for outdoor championships like Olympic Games and World championships that have been lined up this year.
“This is my first time to compete at the indoors, hoping to register good time ahead of outdoor Games championships like Olympic Games as well as World championships,” said Korir.
She said that she wants to organize herself well with the coach Henry Lebo on how they will come up with a good timetable on how to get good time that will enable her run so well.
“This time, am preparing for Indoors and my good preparations can earn me a place to compete at the Diamond League series. Right now it is still early to talk much on Diamond leagues but running indoors, am ready for it fully. As an athlete, I am expecting good results,” added Korir.
The athlete, who looks upon former world 800m champion Eunice Sum as her mentor in the two lap race says she runs so well and if she runs like her and talks to her so well she knows she can do well.
“When it comes to young athletes like me, I have a good chance and I believe that if I prepare well, I will get a chance to compete for Kenya at the championships since I have competed in Athletics Kenya meetings,” she said.
Korir first made the Kenya team at the All Africa Games in 2019 but failed to reach the finals in the 800m but that did not deter her efforts.
“I competed at the national trials ahead of the World championships in Doha in 2019 but I finished in position five hence missing a slot but I ran my personal best of 2:02. Heading to France, I need good results,” added Korir.
