World marathon record holder Brigid Kosgei will be chasing the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Half Marathon, the World Athletics Gold Label Road Race title on 21st February.
The reigning London marathon champion broke the world marathon record when she won the Chicago marathon last year in 2:14:04.
The Honolulu marathon champion will return to the RAK after finishing 7th in 2018 with her personal best in the 21km distance at 65:28 set at Great North Run.
“I am really excited to come back to the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon after two years,” said Kosgei. “I know that this year the line-up is one of the best ever for a half marathon and I really hope to run fast.”
However, she will line up against compatriots Fancy Chemutai 64:52, 2016 world half marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir 65:06 victory in RAK, Ethiopia’s Netsanet Gudeta and Joan Melly Chelimo, the fourth-fastest woman in history and Rosemary Wanjiru
Two time Prague half marathon champion Bernard Kimeli will be chasing the men’s title against world marathon silver medallist Mosinet Geremew and European record-holder Julien Wanders.
Ethiopian trio Andamlak Belihu, Solomon Berihu and Amdemwork Walelegn are also in the field along with Kenyan duo Alexander Mutiso and Kibiwott Kandie.
