It was a reprieve for Kenyan 5,000m runners who all qualified into the finals of the ongoing world Athletics championships in Oregon, USA.
Jacob Krop won in his heat when he timed 13:13.30 as Daniel Simiu was placed sixth in 13:15.17 but still sailed through as one of the fastest losers (q) with Nicholas Kipkorir Kimeli also sailing to the finals as the fastest loser in 13:24.56.
Oscar Chelimo of Uganda took won the heat in 13:24.23 followed by Grant Fisher of USA in 13:24.44, Olympic 5000m champion Selemon Barega in 13:24.44 and world 10,000m champion Joshua Cheptegei in 13:24.77.
