Commonwealth Games 10,000m bronze medalist Rodgers Chumo Kwemoi and Houston half marathon champion Victoy Chepng’eno will be battling for Istanbul half marathon titles set for tomorrow in the Turkish Capital.
Kwemoi, who will be competing in his second half marathon will be facing off with compatriots Daniel Mateiko (58:26) Josphat Tanui (59:22), Edmond Kipng’etich (59:41), Hillary Kipchumba (60:01), Vestus Chemjor (60:47), Moses Too (60:56), Philemon Kiptoo (61:47), Daniel Kiprotich (62:09) and Gerald Vincent (62:27).
Kwemoi, who made his half marathon career at Ras Al Khaimah in February where he finished second holds the second best time on the line-up with 58:30.
In women, Chepng’eno will be up against compatriot double Olympic Games 5,000m silver medalist Hellen Obiri among others.
Chepng’eno won Houston half marathon in her personal best of 65:03 and will face off with Ethiopian Tshay Gemechu (65:08) and Nigist Haftu as they chase to lower the course record set by world marathon champion Ruth Chepng’etich.
