Lakhani swing into Syngenta golf victory in Eldoret

Former Eldoret golf captain Anand Lakhani fired three birdies to win the Syngenta Golf title played on 29th February 2020 on nine-hole Eldoret golf club.

With over five years without a win, Lakhani carded 42 stable ford points to win the title, with top of his swing, starting with a par in one par five, before sinking a birdie in the second par 3 and registered all pars in the remaining seven holes for a total of 20 points in the front nine.

He registered two birdies in the second nine in holes 12 and 18 pars 4 and 5 respectively. With the birdies, he dropped a shot in 16 par 3 with all holes receiving pars for a total of 22 points in the second nine.

The two-time captain, first at his teenage and leading in the 2015/2016 season, Lakhani said the day started well as playing with great golfers on the course.

“The course was good despite the hot sun and running greens that were hard in putting. But with all that I managed to challenge the challenges available for the title,” said Lakhani.

Paul Mwangi and Jedidah Keitany were men and ladies winners on 39 and 37 points respectively. Playing handicap 14, Mwangi relegated Ahmed Ferej into the second position with 37 points while Amos Butit losing to Ferej on countback.

Keitany, on the other hand, edged Hilam Shah with a point as club chairperson Florence Murgor in the third position with 36 points.

Former club captain John Barorot was the first nine winner on 19 points as Ardash Shah was the second nine winner on 20 points.

Lakhani was on the podium again to receive the longest drive prizes as Diana Chemweno was the lady’s longest drive champion while Parit Sanghrajka was the nearest to the pin winner.
