Leaders Bomet, Heroes, Fortune, Assad seal NSL victories

APS Bomet and Coastal Heroes and Fortune sacco defeated newbies Naivas and Mara Sugar in today’s National Super league match played today.

At the Serani Sports ground in Mombasa, hosts heroes were 2-1 winners over Mara Sugar to evade relegation with Mara’s chances of promotion getting slimmer despite the losers scoring first through Victor Nguma for a 1-0 lead.

But Heroes’ Marcus Jairo and Ali Halafu scored a goal apiece for the hosts to seal the victory.

With the win, Heroes remain in 17th place with 31 points from 30 games and face Kisumu All Stars next Monday in Kisumu while Mara Sugar will host title contenders Fortune Sacco this weekend.

In Bomet, leaders APS Bomet recorded a solitary goal win against Naivas at the Bomet Stadium.

Substitute Lawrence Kibet converted from the spot to secure the crucial win for the league leaders who have bagged 63 points thus far.

At the Kianyaga stadium, second placed Fortune Sacco beat Mombasa Elite 2-0 with goals coming from Jacob Kareno who grabbed a brace to tally their points to 57.

In other matches, Muhoroni Youth lost by a solitary goal to 1-0 to SS Assad at Shamu Grounds to slump to third with 56 points.

Kisii-based Shabana squeezed out a slim 1-0 win over Vihiga United to go fifth on the log with 50 points.

Murang’a Seal went sixth after a hard-fought 3-2 win over Mwatate United at Wundanyi Stadium.

MCF beat Kibera Black Stars 3-0 as Silibwet Leons stunned former Kenyan Premier League side Kisumu All Stars 4-2 while Gusii FC and Migori Youth both earned walkovers after Dandora Love and Zoo Kericho failed to show up
