Series leader John Lejirma fired six birdies to take the lead in round one of Nandi Bears Shield Open Golf championships, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) at par 72 Nandi Bears Golf club.
The Kenya Railways player fired four under par 68 to take an early lead with three shots over second placed club mate Joseph Gathumbi with one under par 71 as Golf Park’s Sammy Mulama managed third position with one over par 71 ahead of tomorrow’s final round two of the championships in the green county of Nandi.
He fired three pars in the opening nine in holes 2, 7 and 8 pars 3, 4 and 5 respectively with all sinking pars for a total of three under.
In the second nine, he managed other three back to back birdies in 16th, 17th and 18th dropping a shot in 14th and 15th with all remaining par for a total of one under.
“Everything today was perfect and I want to emulate the same come tomorrow to emerge victorious as this second time to play here,” he said.
“I will stick to my game plan come tomorrow since the swing is perfect,” he added.
