Former champions AFC Leopards, Kakamega Homeboyz, former champions Sofapaka and Ulinzi Stars started their premier league positively by winning their matches in round one of the top league today.
At Thika stadium, Leopards defeated reigning champions Tusker by a solitary goal scored in the 19th minute by Sudanese international Saad Musa as Tusker’s Boniface Muchiri missed to level through a penalty in the 62nd minute.
Newbies Police FC lost 1-0 to their opening match to their hosts Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium with the only goal scored by Stephen Opoku in the 67th minute.
Ulinzi Stars defeated Nzoia Sugar by similar margin at the Nakuru ASK ground with Michael Bikokwa netting the sole goal.
2009 champions Sofapaka beat Nairobi City Stars 3-1 at the At Dawson Mwanyumba Stadium. Joe Waithera scored first for Sofapaka in the 42nd and bagged a brace in the 90th minutes and Lawrence Juma scoring the second in the 82nd minute and Timothy Ouma scored a consolation for City Stars in 87th minute.
