Lionesses recover to beat South Sudan at women’s AfroBasket qualifiers

Kenya Lionesses recovered from opening match loss to win today’s match in the second day of the ongoing FIBA women’s AfroBasket Zone Five qualifiers in Kigali, Tuesday.

After losing to hosts Rwanda on Monday, Kenya defeated South Sudan 66-48 in 16-9, 10-5, 21-10 and 19-24.

The winner of this tournament will join Cape Verde (Zone Two qualifiers winners) who became the first team to qualify for 2021 women’s AfroBasket finals, joining hosts Cameroon, Nigeria, Senegal, Mali and Mozambique. 

The women’s continental basketball showpiece is set to be held from September 17-26, 2021 at the Yaoundé Multipurpose Sports Complex in the Cameroonian capital.
