Lwanga siblings Aguda and Odongo dominate School Chess Championships in Eldoret

Lwanga siblings dominated the Africa Individual Schools Chess Championships (AISCC) national qualifiers held on Eldoret yesterday.

Siblings led by Candidate Master (CM) Aguda and CM Odongo Lwanga dominated the Kenya National Schools Individual Chess Championships where the elder Aguda qualified to represent the country at the continental championships set for Monrovia, Liberia in December.

Both representing Consolata Secondary School, the elder Aguda won the boys under 17 categories after beating St Patrick’s Iten High school player Joel Odhiambo Otieno through buchholz after tying in 7.5 points apiece and Gideon Gekonge finishing third with 7 points from eight matches played.

The Odongo, despite missing the chance to represent the country finished third in the boys under 15 Under 15 with 7 points behind Moses Bejon (7.5)- Oshwal Academy, Mombasa and Jamie Kanango (7.5) of Baptist High.
