Malkia Strikers to miss Atuka ahead of Olympic qualifiers

Malkia Strikers, the Kenya women national team is among the countries that have confirmed competing at the Olympic  Games qualifiers set for Cameroon in January.

The Confederation of Africa Volleyball (CAVB) championships will be held in Cameroon where the winner will represent the continent at the 2020 Tokyo Women’s Volleyball Qualification.

The qualification will start on January 4-9, 2020 with eight nations Algeria, Botswana, hosts Cameroon, Congo DRC, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria have confirmed competing for the Tokyo slot.

Meanwhile, kenya’s Malkia Strikers will miss the services of Kenya Pipeline middle blocker Trizah Atuka who has been ruled out of action with a long term injury.

Atuka picked a nasty knee injury during their match against Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) in the semifinals during Nandi County Open Tournament in Kapsabet last Saturday.

According to Daily nation, A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan report showed the Pipeline captain had ruptured her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PLC) and is now set to undergo surgery at the weekend.

She will miss the national play-offs that serves off on November 22 to 24 at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
