Tanzanian Karim Mandonga edged out Ugandan Kenneth Lukyamuzi to win the Light Heavyweight title at the regional Pugilistic Syndicate of Tanzania (PST) yesterday in Nairobi.
The Kasarani show saw Mandonga, popularly called Mtu kazi beat Lukyamuzi 74-78, 77-75 and 77-75 as he called for a rematch against Kenyan Daniel Wanyonyi who beat Uganda’s Charles Kakande in another light heavyweight contest.
Wanyonyi lost to Mandonga in December and promised to silence him in the first round in their rematch.
Wanyonyi is the former World Boxing Federation International champion, declared that he is back to his previous form.
