Mkungo, Cherop triumph at AK Coast cross country championships

Panuel Mkungo and Joan Cherop won the Athletics Kenya Coast Region Cross-Country Championship held today at the Dawson Mwanyumba Stadium.

Mkungo won the 10km men while Cherop was the women winner.

Mkungo won the title in 26:22.18 ahead of Daniel Kemboi (26: 49.48), Vincent Tanui third in 26: 59.59).

In senior women, Cherop clocked 36:08.50 edging out Rose Nthei (39: 16.16) and Irene Mkungo (40: 05.26).

Maria Shali won the 5km girls under-18 title in 23:14.16 followed by Agnes Mwashigadi in 23:54.22, Josephine Sempeyo in 25:17.15.
